SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS AT THE USF RICCI INSTITUTE

The USF Ricci Institute awards annual scholarships and grants and occasional fellowships to facilitate and promote research of the history of Chinese-Western cultural exchange and/or the history of Christianity in China.

Ricci Institute Travel Grants are awarded each year to assist scholars and researchers outside of northern California in their travel to the University of San Francisco to utilize the Ricci Institute Collection for their research. Grants are awarded on a merit basis to faculty members and graduate students engaged in research on topics related to Chinese-Western cultural exchange supported by the Ricci Institute Collection.

Malatesta Scholarships continue the legacy of the Ricci Institute's founder, Edward J. Malatesta, by annually assisting young Chinese scholars enrolled or affiliated with a university in the People's Republic of China to engage in doctoral or postdoctoral research on topics related to the history of Christianity in China.

EDS-Stewart Chair Fellowship is designed to promote cross-cultural understanding and scholarly cooperation between China and the West. The Chair sponsors study, research, teaching, publications, public lectures and symposia on topics related to the study of encounters of Chinese culture and Christian faith and the history of Christianity in China, particularly the history of the Jesuit mission in China.
